Build Your Product

First question i will answer even if you haven't asked for it is - Why should you build your own product... Because it's puting you on your own feet and gives you big money making potential. Let's get this straight - making money with adsense, with affiliate programs and any other way is good, but working for yourself and keeping all profits for yourself is even better. Am i right - of course i am :) One very important fact is that when you have good product others would be willing to work for you and to promote it through your affiliate program (when you set up one).

Build adsense sites, work your ass of promotion to send all your hard work to Google so you will make small share of what they will earn with it. Or promote someone's product and earn 30-40-50% of what they make. It's not bad but building your product is much better.

What can your product be?
Pretty much anything - you can start offline business and then do part of business online, or you can make it all online based. I will focus on all online based for now because you need big money to invest in most cases to start offline business and these articles are mostly written for newbies. And newbies don't have few $1000...

So what can be your online product? - eBook (audio book), ezine, tutorials, guides and courses site, software, scripts, wallpapers, screensavers, photography, and any other sort of media you produced yourself. First of all you need to make sure people are and will be interested into your product. If they are not interested they won't buy anything - it's that simple.

So when you find subject that you can work with and that others will be interested into get to work. Deicide how will you distibute your product (in which format) and when doing this try to choose the most simple method for end users. They are your customers and you should be aware that many of them are not tech experts. The more simple the better.

Advantages of Having your Product Online
First of all your business is open 24/7 to any potential customer. Second and very important - you're not spending money to build your product (I'm still talking about only online based product) and i'll explain this now.

Let's say you'll make software. You're programer, so you don't need money to make product. You need time but you need it for anything. It goes the same for books, scripts, course sites etc... For media you need to invest into equipmenet but if you're professional photographer for example you'll have everything you need already.

One more very important fact is that you don't need to pay for shiping or storage in warehouse for none of your products. Yes you need to pay for hosting but it's cheap these days and you have to pay for it anyway if you're having web site online. All your products are on your server and any customer can get (download or access) them as soon as they pay... Isn't that great? :)

Dissadvantages of Having your Product Online
Almost none... The biggest "problem" you have to handle is to implement some payment processor into your site. Even for this, most companies who are offering payment processing services offer tech support and step-by-step guides on how to implement everything easily.
You'll maybe need to make protected (members only) area on your web site. There are also many tutorials how to do it so you'll be able to solve it too.
You'll need to work hard to promote your product but you'd do the same if you'd promote someone else's product, right? Only in this scenario you keep all profits for yourself. :)
